Possible role of leptin, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha in hypoandrogenicity in patients with early rheumatoid arthritis

摘要: Abstract Introduction Hypoandrogenicity is common in men with rheumatoid arthritis who have lower levels of sex hormones such as testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone sulphate. The fat tissue hormone leptin stimulated by tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), was found to be associated hypoandrogenicity. Aim the work To study inter-relation between serum TNF-α, androgens early diagnosed RA. Patients methods Serum leptin, testosterone, (DHEAS) were measured ELISA compared 40 RA 30 healthy volunteers. Results mean TNF-α significantly elevated patients control group, both them positively correlated disease activity score (DAS28). Sex (testosterone DHEAS) decreased male they negatively leptin. Conclusion Our data suggest that may involved hypoandrogenicity strategies aimed at interfering axis could represent innovative therapeutic tool for
