摘要: Abstract Ventilation is under metabolic as well behavioural control. This causes a complex interaction between states of ‘vigilance’ and respiration. paper briefly summarizes sleep-related changes respiration presents an experimental study on the course respiratory CO 2 -sensitivity during whole night’s sleep in ten healthy volunteers. The feedback control breathing was challenged by continuous step inspired every 7 min, resulting 60, 3-step steady-state hypercapnic ventilatory responses (HCVR) per night each subject. We analysed variability baseline ventilation effects hypercapnia with respect to stages. There were only small differences P stages, but high slope –response curves night, ranging from 0.5 3.0 L min −1 Torr . HCVR significantly lower REM than all stages NREM sleep. Due compensatory left shift flattened curves, however, at slight varied much less would be expected slopes. conclude that characteristics -sensitive system respiration, are highly variable sleep, due offsetting effects, remain quite stable physiological range.
