Colchicine poisoning—overview and new directions

摘要: Colchicine overdose is uncommon but frequently fatal. In this article we present two cases which exhibit the wide spectrum of colchicine toxicity and review drug's pharmacology organ system effects. Finally provide a treatment algorithm propose new directions for management. Colchicine binds to intracellular tubulin prevents its polymerisation form microtubules. As microtubules subserve variety roles in basic cellular function including protein assembly, mitosis, endocytosis, exocytosis, cell shape motility, profoundly toxic all lines body. Previous studies have offered little aid clinician management such patients. We series guidelines based on current literature. Specifically, that patients who do not develop gastrointestinal symptoms within eight hours small, isolated ingestion can be medically cleared. Additionally, onset should seen as an indicator possible significant systemic requiring early resuscitation intensive monitoring.
