摘要: Background and purpose:  Epidemiologic studies of incidence prevalence in Parkinson’s Disease (PD) show highly variable results. Despite the large number performed worldwide during last decades, little is known about its South America no have been performed. The goal this study to assess PD a health maintenance organization from Buenos Aires City, capital city Argentina. Methods:  population were all members ‘Plan de Salud, Hospital Italiano Aires’, prepaid medical Aires. From 1 January 2003 31 December 2008 patients diagnosed with according Brain Bank London diagnostic criteria identified retrospectively. Incidence density was calculated 95% confidence interval. Results:  Hundred forty thousand people followed for total 754 082 person-years. A 239 incident cases identified. Crude 31.2/100 000 Prevalence 394/100 000 older than 40 years. Male female ratio 1.31. Conclusions:  This first that estimates PD. Our results are consistent other regions using similar methodologies.
