摘要: Abstract The spinal cords of cats were subjected to an impact injury using a “weight dropping” technique and sequential changes in the sheaths non-degenerate myelinated fibres studied over 3-week period. By 1 2 h after showed retraction some lateral loops from one paranode. extent severity this change increased first week so that partial full thickness demyelination seen frequently. Partial most commonly resulted internodal termination innermost lamellae at location often associated with Schmidt-Lantermann incisure. Remyelination by both Schwann cells oligodendroglia occurred end second week. Oligodendroglial myelin many features immaturity, similar those found during development. It is suggested very earliest damage mechanical but aggravated other factor(s) which probably ischaemia. Within severely injured areas there death any surviving axons are remyelinated principally cells. In intermediate minimally damaged white matter oligodendroglial remyelination predominates.
