摘要: Abstract The adsorption and desorption of gaseous iodine on stainless steel was studied at low temperature under atmospheric conditions. Sorption kinetics were by measuring the 131I tracer activity a coupon during loading purging. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photographs energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyses also obtained various stages uptake corrosion surface extensive room temperature, particularly in air. adsorbed desorbed only purging with air not N2. This behaviour iodine-catalysed are explained reaction oxygen FeI2 to form iron oxyiodide (FeIxOy) solids, significant volume changes associated formation FeIxOy. These continuously generate cracks grain boundaries through which I2 can diffuse react Fe.
