摘要: Softwood substrates are recalcitrant in enzymatic hydrolysis to reducing sugars, part because of unproductive binding enzymes on lignin. Interactions between polyethylene glycol (PEG) and a softwood substrate were characterised order estimate the PEG loadings required for effective blocking enzyme binding. For first time, adsorption Rhodamine labelled (Mw 3400) thermo-mechanically treated Pinus radiata fibres was by fluorimetry, giving best-fit constant 68 L g−1. This considerably stronger than published constants 6 L g−1 lignin, accounting success as an additive. Glucose yields from same substrate, when unlabelled 4000) used, consistent with capacity 0.01–0.02 g g−1 substrate. Thus, shown be at affordably low further mathematical modelling work predicts savings correspond 6 kg per tonne pretreated processed higher concentration.
