摘要: Background Reference values and age-related changes of the wall thickness abdominal aorta have not been described in general population. We characterized age-, race-, gender-specific distributions, yearly rates change mean aortic (MAWT), associations between MAWT cardiovascular risk factors a multi-ethnic population-based probability sample. Methods Magnetic resonance imaging measurements were performed on 2466 free-living white, black, Hispanic adult subjects. race/ethnicity- percentile across age estimated using regression analyses. Results was greater men than women increased linearly with all groups percentiles. had thinnest black thickest aortas. Black highest white lowest increase. Age, gender, ethnicity, smoking status, systolic blood pressure, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels, high-density fasting glucose levels independent predictors MAWT. Conclusions racial/ethnic differences distributions exist Such should be considered future investigations assessing atherosclerosis effects anti-atherosclerotic therapies.
