摘要: Background & objectives: Majority of cases cervical cancer are diagnosed at an advanced stage as cytology based screening programmes ineffective in developing countries. The present study was done to look for carcinoma cervix and its precursors by visual inspection with Lugol's iodine (VILI), acetic acid (VIA) Papanicolaou smear, analyse their sensitivity, specificity predictive values using colposcopic directed biopsy reference. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 350 women were subjected Pap VIA, VILI colposcopy. Cervical endocervical curettage taken from patients positive on any these tests 10 per cent negative cases. Results: smear abnormal 3.71 cent, including (2.85%), low grade (LSIL) (0.85%) high squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSIL). Thirteen the found be VIA 11.71 VILI. Sensitivity 89.5, 100 52.6 respectively, while 91.2, 93.3 99.1 respectively. Interpretation conclusions: resource settings, can replaced methods like VILI, which has highest sensitivity (100%) detect dysplasia, a good (93.3%).
