摘要: The expression pattern of two Ca2(+)-dependent intercellular adhesion molecules, E- and P-cadherin, in 54 surgically resected gastric adenocarcinomas was examined immunohistochemically. E-cadherin expressed uniformly at the cell-cell borders most differentiated adherent-type undifferentiated adenocarcinomas, showing that serves as main cadherin molecule responsible for binding these carcinomas. Scattered-type which apparently lacked this tight were divisible into groups on basis expression. In a minor group composed 4 carcinomas, could not be detected, suggesting absence made cancer cells separate. contrast, 19 carcinomas belonged to major showed similar scattering but had definite their cell surfaces, there some mechanism(s) disturbing function However, immunoblotting no evidence gross alterations molecule, such partial deletion, P-cadherin 29 (54%) unstable them, characteristic feature compared with stable E-cadherin. Since is known temporarily foregut during embryogenesis proved occasionally expressed, although weakly, proliferative zone noncancerous epithelia study, may an oncofetal phenomenon and/or reflect marked potential.
