摘要: [1] The outer zone radiation belt consists of energetic electrons drifting in closed orbits encircling the Earth between ∼3 and 7 RE. Electron fluxes show a strong correlation with solar magnetospheric activity, generally increasing during geomagnetic storms associated high wind speeds, presence ULF waves Pc-5 frequency range. In this paper, we examine influence on an asymmetric, compressed dipole find that such particles may be efficiently accelerated through drift-resonant interaction waves. We efficiency acceleration increases distortion (such as attributed to increased pressure speeds) wave activity. A preponderance power dawn dusk flanks is shown consistent proposed mechanism. Under continuum modes frequencies, drift resonant process leads additional radial diffusion belts, timescales appropriate those observed storms.
