摘要: Two social impact assessment (SIA) studies of Central Queensland's Coppabella coal mine were undertaken in 2002–2003 and 2006–2007. As ex post actual change, these provide a reference point for predictive assessments proposed resource extraction projects at other sites, while the longitudinal element added by second study illustrates how impacts associated with one may vary over time due to changing economic conditions. It was found that traditional coupling local vitality community development life cycle projects—the cycle—was mediated labour recruitment infrastructure policies reduced emphasis on localised employment investment strategies, cumulative multiple mining within relative proximity each other. The accelerated communities forced consider ways attracting secondary and/or alternative industries early operational order secure significant benefits guard against erosion capital ability cope future downturns sector.
