摘要: The ingestion of dietary antioxidants, including vitamin C (VC), is suggested to play an important role in the prevention gastric cancer associated with Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection. Recently, water extracts Tochu (Du-zhong, Eucommia ulmoidea OLIVER) leaves (WETL) have been reported potent antioxidant and antimutagenic effects. present study investigated effect(s) VC WETL on mucosal injury induced by ammonia a deficient diet. Guinea pigs fed containing and/or VC-deficient diet were simultaneously treated or VC. Intramucosal levels thiobarubiturate reactive substances (TBARS), index lipid peroxidation, increased significantly animals ammoniated diets. This was accompanied accelerated cell proliferation increases immunohistochemical staining indices for oxidative stress-induced DNA adducts strand breaks (e.g., BrdU-uptake, 8-OhdG, ssDNA TUNEL reaction). administration either diets ameliorated intramucosal TBARS labeling BrdU, 8-OHdG, TUNEL, i.e., similar those measured normal-fed control animals. These data suggest that insufficient may be risk factor development patients HP infections. Furthermore, our results some constituent contribute precedes carcinogenesis.
