摘要: Abstract Deformability of Plasmodium falciparum gametocyte-infected erythrocytes (GIEs) allows them to persist for several days in blood circulation and ensure transmission mosquitoes. Here, we investigate the mechanism by which parasite proteins STEVOR (SubTElomeric Variable Open Reading frame) exert changes on GIE deformability. Using microsphiltration method, immunoprecipitation, mass spectrometry, produce evidence that stiffness is dependent cytoplasmic domain interacts with ankyrin complex at erythrocyte skeleton. Moreover, show deformability regulated protein kinase A (PKA)–mediated phosphorylation C-terminal a specific serine residue (S324). Finally, increase induced sildenafil (Viagra) status another independent mechanism. These data provide new insights into mechanisms phosphodiesterase inhibitors may block malaria transmission.
