摘要: Oxylipins are oxygenated derivatives of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) that act as chemical mediators in many ecological and physiological processes marine freshwater diatoms. The occurrence distribution these molecules relatively widespread within the lineage with considerable species-specific differences due to variability both recognized substrates enzymatic transformations. present review provides a general introduction recent studies on diatom oxylipins describes an analytical method for detection assessment elusive laboratory field samples. This methodology is based selective enrichment oxylipin fraction by solvent extraction, followed parallel acquisition full-scan UV tandem mass spectra reverse phase liquid chromatography (LC) peaks. procedure enables identification potential genetic differences, regulation, ecophysiological conditions result different signatures, thus providing effective tool probing functional relevance this class lipids plankton communities. Examples measurements samples also provided demonstration methodology.
