摘要: Little is known of the occurrence animal virus diseases in Sultanate Oman. This paper reports results a countrywide survey carried out 1978 to establish prevalence some important viral pathogens domestic animals with dual purpose providing baselines for future investigations and guidelines those entrusted disease control. Foot-and-mouth type O, previously identified Oman 1976, was isolated from clinically affected animals. In addition, types A Asia 1 were unaffected Serological studies indicated that infection all 3 had been widespread. The presence infectious bovine rhinotracheitis confirmed by isolations sheep goat pox, long recognised Oman, demonstration pox particles dried lesion material. serological antibodies found viruses peste des petits ruminants, herpes mammillitis, diarrhoea, parainfluenza African horse sickness. There no significant antibody levels rinderpest unvaccinated equine anaemia or vesicular stomatitis viruses.
