Nicotinylalanine increases cerebral kynurenic acid content and has anticonvulsant activity

摘要: Abstract 1. Nicotinylalanine is an analogue of kynurenine which has been reported to inhibit the enzymes hydroxylase and kynureninase. 2. In present study rats were given a tryptophan load together with nicotinylalanine two hours before killing, brain, liver kidneys analysed by HPLC for their kynurenic acid content. 3. Tryptophan alone produced significant elevation kynurenate but additional administration nicotinylalanine, levels rose dramatically, including 19-fold increase in brain. 4. mice same dose reduced incidence seizures induced leptazol or electroshock treatment. 5. Since antagonist at excitatory amino receptors results may herald new approach producing pharmacological blockade
