摘要: BACKGROUND The PTEN tumor suppressor gene frequently is involved in endometrial carcinoma. Loss of heterozygosity and mutations reportedly are common, although the biologic importance these changes remain largely unknown. The objective this study was to assess pattern expression by immunohistochemistry a large series patients with carcinoma. METHODS A population-based 316 carcinoma who had long complete follow-up investigated for its correlation clinicopathologic variables, markers, survival. RESULTS PTEN protein mainly cytoplasmic cells, no seen 56 279 (20%) evaluable results. A heterogeneous staining found 70 tumors (25%). significant association between loss metastatic disease identified (P = 0.05). However, did not influence survival significantly. CONCLUSIONS The relatively frequent associated significantly disease. This indicates that system plays an important role some carcinomas, but further studies related various genetic alterations necessary. Cancer 2002;94:2185–91. © 2002 American Society.
