摘要: Abstract Adhesion molecule CD11b/CD18 expressed by neutrophils (PMNs) participates in cell migration and phagocytosis of C3bi derivatized bacteria. It is this phagocytic function that eliminates some the known periodontal pathogens to pockets. In patients with advanced periodontitis, homotypic aggregation crevicular fluid PMNs (CF-PMNs) may occur due overexpression lead ineffective elimination pathogens. We have previously shown CF-PMNs isolated from pockets overexpress CD11b compared PB-PMNs. This study tested hypotheses (1) surface correlates expression mRNA periodontitis subjects, (2) intrinsic capacity upregulation PB-PMNs differs control subjects. peripheral blood (PB-PMNs) were 13 subjects healthy gingiva (control group) (patient group). The was determined flow cytometry extraction reverse transcription cDNA followed DNA amplification using primers detect a segment which encodes CD11b. results confirm on significantly higher vs (p=0.03), whereas does not differ between groups (p=0.06). level did correlate amount present either group (p=0.056, 0.07) for patients, respectively). Most (9 13) individuals patient very few (2 11) had their CF-PMNs, difference statistically significant (p=0.004). upregulate upon stimulation fMLP and/or GM-CSF highly variable there no statistical 2 groups.
