摘要: Chagas disease, originally a South American endemic health problem, is expanding worldwide because of people migration. Its main impact on the cardiovascular system, producing myocardial damage that frequently results in heart failure. Pathogenic pathways are mainly related to inmunoinflamatory reactions myocardium and, less frequently, gastrointestinal tract. The usually shows fibrosis, dilatation and electrogenic cardiac system. These changes result cardiomyopathy with failure frequent arrhythmias blocks. Diagnosis disease must include lab test detect parasite or its immune usual techniques evaluate function. Therapeutic management does not differ significantly from most common treatment for dilated cardiomyopathy, special focus several degrees block. Heart transplantation reserved end-stage cases.
