摘要: Objective: To examine whether select bacterial infections are associated with HTLV-II infection among injection drug users, we conducted a nested case control study within an ongoing cohort study. Method: status was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, immunofluorescent and immunoblot. Diagnosis of pneumonia, infective endocarditis, skin abscess confirmed standardized chart reviews, Three sets cases were identified based on diagnosis endocarditis validated review, or self-reported abscess. Each matched to minimum 5 controls age, HIV status, follow-up duration. Risk factors for each analyzed separately conditional logistic regression methods. Results: Prevalence ranged from 7% 11% in controls. The bivariate association pneumonia revealed odds ratio (OR) 1.1 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.6-2.0); the OR 1.7 CI, 0.7-3.9); between 1.3 0.6-2.0). These ORs unaltered adjustment other factors. Conclusion: Our results suggest that these three not significantly population users. Additional associations disease outcomes merit further exploration.
