摘要: Transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is most common surgical procedure for relieving symptoms benign prostatic hyperplasia. Here, we report our experience current indications TURP and their associated outcomes at Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital (KMUH). A total 111 patients who underwent KMUH between May 2000 December 2001 were included in this retrospective review. For each patient, indication was categorized into acute urinary retention, chronic complications (including renal impairment, recurrent infection, bladder stone/diverticulum, post-void residue, hematuria), symptomatic prostatism. Thirty-five (31%) had 28 (27%) complications, 48 (42%) Most chose only when medical treatment failed to relieve symptoms, no matter what category they belonged to. Patients with retention larger prostates (p = 0.002) more tissue resected 0.05) than those seemed be greater risk postoperative such as tract infection. We suggest that urodynamic study may necessary rule out concomitant dysfunction before surgery adequate prophylactic antibiotic used decrease infection during or after TURP, especially pyuria noted preoperatively retention.
