Increased regeneration rate in peripheral nerve axons following double lesions: Enhancement of the conditioning lesion phenomenon

摘要: The rate of regeneration rat sciatic nerve sensory axons was measured using the pinch-reflex test method, and confirmed by studying transport labelled protein into regenerating axons. For nerves receiving a single crush lesion 4.02 +/- 0.03 (SE) mm/day. with conditioning made at knee seven days prior to hip 5.73 0.06 mm/day, for where both lesions were same site (hip or knee) but separated days, 6.76 0.04 68% increase over normal rate, showing that pre-degeneration distal increases regeneration. It is concluded axon can be influenced environment through which grow.
