Plant Regeneration from Cultured Protoplasts

摘要: The protoplasts isolated from various plant species, organs or tissues, can regenerate cell wall, divide and form colonies calli, followed by regeneration via different pathway of morphogenesis, under proper culture conditions. Since the first report mesophyll tobacco (Nagata Takebe, 1971; Nitsch Ohyama, 1971), number species with successful reached about 100 mid 1980’s (Binding, 1985; Maheshwari et al.,1986). According to Roest Gilissen (1989), this increased 212 during next 4–5 years. Unfortunately, these authors missed several Chinese contributions which appeared in Chineses language (see Loo Xu, 1986; Xia, 1992). our recent survey (Xu Xue, 1995), there are 368 subspecies higher plants, covering 161 genera 46 families, for has been achieved. Among them, Solanaceous members appear be most responsive followed, declining order, Leguminosae, Gramineae, Compositae, Cruciferae, Umbelliferae Rosaceae (See Table 1).
