摘要: Fungi have been found in every marine habitat that has explored; however, the diversity and functions of fungi ocean are poorly understood. In this study, were cultured from environment vicinity Woods Hole, MA, USA, including plankton, sponge, coral. Our sampling resulted 35 unique species across 20 genera. We observed many isolates by time-lapse, differential interference contrast (DIC) microscopy analyzed modes growth division. Several black yeasts displayed highly unconventional cell division cycles compared to those traditional model yeast systems. Black habitats inhospitable other life known for halotolerance, virulence, stress resistance. find group also shows remarkable plasticity terms size control, division, polarity. Unexpected behaviors include through a combination fission budding, production multiple simultaneous buds, sequential orthogonal septations. These marine-derived reveal alternative mechanisms seem likely expand repertoire rules established classic system yeasts.
