摘要: Objective: To systematically evaluate morphologic differences in iris stroma that contribute to clinically perceptible color, using immunohistochemical identification of stromal melanocytes and fluorescence microscopy. Methods: Paraffin-embedded sections from 51 human irides were stained with S100a fluorescein isothiocyanate. Cells counted scored as or other. Melanocyte number, proportion, density determined for light-colored (blue), medium-colored (hazel) dark-colored (brown) compared. Results: No statistically significant difference was observed mean total cellularity melanocyte number among the three color groups. Mean cell count 1177±259 (mean±SEM), 778±196 per 5-μm section. In irides, 65.9% is composed melanocytes. (number cells square millimeter) not related color. Conclusion: The melanocytes, proportion are major contributors
