摘要: Gliomas are the most common neoplasms of Central Nervous System (CNS) and a frequent cause mental impairment death. Despite improved responsiveness to primary therapy, survival glioma patients is still very low. Therapies malignant gliomas often palliative because their infiltrating nature high recurrence. During last decade, concept that may arise from cancer stem cells (CSCs) has emerged. CSCs share with neural (NSCs) capacity cell renewal, multipotency expression specific proteins, such as CD133 nestin. This chapter describes similarities differences between NSCs CSCs, summarizes emerging knowledge on possible role markers in gliomas, particularly tumoral grading. In addition, importance niches maintaining pools considered. The involvement signal transduction pathways, Notch, PDGF/PDGFR, Hedgehog-Gli1, Bone morphogenetic protein implications control function analyzed. Furthermore, certain proteins expressed tumor migrating possibly involved recidive evaluated.
