摘要: To gain a better understanding of the scope previous research on psychiatric emergency services (PES) and to identify areas focus for future studies, author reviews PES literature published between 1983 2003. was identified by performing MEDLINE search. The interested in studies or all types PES. refereed research, consisting 85 articles, is representation existing as multiple were found be similar topic methodology. This review organized using Donabedian's structure, process, outcome framework describe that has examined 1) providers, clients, services; 2) variations access, utilization, evaluation, treatment, continuity care; 3) outcomes these services. resulting report reveals methodological limitations are pervasive throughout literature, dimensions remain unexplored, agenda.
