Increasing leptin precedes craving and relapse during pharmacological abstinence maintenance treatment of alcoholism.

摘要: The appetite regulating peptide leptin has recently been associated with craving for alcohol and lifetime ethanol intake. However, effects of anti-craving drugs on have not studied until now. objective our study was to test the hypothesis whether plasma concentration in abstinent addicts during treatment naltrexone vs. acamprosate is abstinence duration alcohol. Leptin measured 160 detoxified a double-blind, placebo-controlled relapse prevention trial plus acamprosate. During placebo treatment, increasing observed, whereas combined acamprosate, decreased significantly. change from baseline levels after weeks 4, 8 12 inversely correlated and, 4 weeks, positively self-rated craving. In summary, presents first evidence an association concentrations renewed intake alcoholics. Moreover, there are hints interaction between pharmacological leptin, duration.
