摘要: Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma is a well-known model for chemoprevention studies because of its field cancerization effect, multistep carcinogenesis process, the easy accessibility biopsies to target lesions. With new understandings head development molecular targeted therapy, trials have been rapidly updated. Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors are gaining significant attention as potential chemopreventive agents. Both COX-2 EGFR involved in carcinogenesis. Targeting separately has shown promising antitumor activity. Recently, combinations reported show synergistic/additive effects preclinical studies. Because toxic single agents clinical trials, combination used at lower doses seems more than monotherapy with either novel strategy cancer chemoprevention.
