摘要: Knowledge about spatial biodiversity patterns is a basic criterion for reserve network design. Although herbarium collections hold large quantities of information, the data are often scattered and cannot supply complete coverage. Alternatively, can be used to fit species distribution models their predictions provide coverage derive richness maps. Here, we build on previous effort propose an improved compositionalist framework using better inform conservation management. We illustrate approach with fitted six different methods combined ensemble 408 plant in tropical megadiverse country (Ecuador). As complementary view traditional hotspots methodology, consisting simple stacking maps, modelling here combines separate pools identify areas alternative suitability conservation. Our results show that captures established protected than strategies allows identification Ecuador would optimally complement current protection network. Further studies should aim at refining more groups additional information.
