摘要: Background This is an updated version of the original Cochrane review published in Issue 1, 2007.Epilepsy a disorder with recurrent epileptic seizures. Corticosteroids have been used treatment children epilepsy and significant adverse effects. Their efficacy tolerability not clearly established. Objectives To determine efficacy, terms seizure control, improvements cognition quality life steroids compared to placebo or other antiepileptic drugs epilepsy, excluding spasms. Search methods We searched following databases: The Epilepsy Group Specialized Register (1 August 2014); CENTRAL, (The Library 7, July MEDLINE (1946 1 EMBASE (1966 December 2004); Database Abstracts Reviews Effectiveness (DARE; 3 database ClinicalTrials.gov WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform ICTRP 2014).We checked reference lists retrieved studies for additional reports relevant studies. Selection criteria All randomised controlled trials administration corticosteroids (less than 16 years) epilepsy. Data collection analysis For this update two authors independently selected inclusion extracted data. Outcomes included cessation seizures, reduction frequency, improvement cognition, effects steroids. Main results A single RCT was that recruited five double blind cross-over trial. One child withdrawn prematurely from study another had infantile spasms hence excluded further analysis. Adrenocorticotrophin hormone (ACTH 4-9) administered. Of three analysed, one showed seizures 25% 50% at both low higher doses placebo; dose only no either dose. No were reported. Authors' conclusions Since last new evidence has found treating childhood epilepsies. Clinicians using epilepsies, spasms, should take into account before these agents.
