摘要: Narcolepsy is a central nervous system disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. This placebocontrolled, double-blind, randomized, parallel-group, 18-center study assessed the efficacy safety of modafinil, new wake-promoting drug for treating in narcolepsy. Subjects with narcolepsy (n = 283) received daily 200 or 400 mg, placebo, 9 weeks, followed an open-label treatment period. Subjective was measured Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Objective Multiple Sleep Latency Test Maintenance Wakefulness Test. Level illness Clinical Global Impression Change. Modafinil significantly reduced all measures associated significant improvements level illness. Medication-related adverse expriences were few, dose-dependent, mostly rated mild to moderate. taken once very well tolerated effective agent somnolence demonstrated excellent profile up 40 weeks maintained, suggesting that tolerance will not develop long-term use. pharmacologically clinically promising compound pathological somnolence.
