摘要: People who are disabled with multiple sclerosis (MS) may be at increased risk of osteoporosis. This review discusses issues relevant to bone health in MS and makes practical recommendations regarding prevention screening for osteoporosis fracture MS. A search the literature up until 5 April 2011 was performed using key terms, articles pertinent were analysed. Bone mineral density (BMD) is reduced lumbar spine, hip total body MS, degree reduction being greatest hip. strong relationship exists between disability level, measured by Expanded Disability Status Score, BMD spine femoral neck, particularly latter. The rate loss also correlates level disability. Pulsed corticosteroids acute episodes even a high cumulative steroid dose, do not significantly affect BMD, but an effect on yet elucidated. There appears no correlation vitamin D levels remains unclear. Falls fractures more common than healthy controls, rises increasing principal factor resulting low immobility. Antiresorptive therapy bisphosphonates optimising likely effective interventions although there randomised studies this therapy.
