摘要: Astrocytoma is comprised of a group common intracranial neoplasms that are classified into four grades based on the World Health Organization histological criteria and patient survival. To date, grade, age, clinical performance, as reflected in Karnofsky score, most reliable prognostic predictors. Recently, there has been significant effort to identify additional markers using objective molecular genetic techniques. We believe identification such will characterize new chromosomal loci important astrocytoma progression aid diagnosis prognosis. this end, our laboratory used comparative genomic hybridization DNA sequence copy number changes 102 astrocytomas. Novel losses 19p were detected low-grade pilocytic astrocytomas 9p, 10, 22 along with gains 7, 19, 20 proportion high-grade The Cox proportional hazards statistical modeling showed presence +7q −10q alterations significantly increased patient's risk dying, independent grade. This investigation demonstrates efficacy for identifying tumor suppressor oncogene different astrocytic grades. cumulative effect these an consideration their diagnostic implications.
