摘要: Aim The age-dependent loss of skeletal muscle mass is highly concerning in diverse aging populations. However, changes and the visceral fat area have not been well documented Asian The aim present study was to evaluate Japanese adults from 40 79 years-of-age. Methods This a cross-sectional study. Healthy men (n = 16 379) women (n = 21 660) aged 40–79 years participated were measured participants by bioelectrical impedance. data converted into index (SMI) dividing weight height squared (kg/m2). Results The SMI showed an decrease both sexes. Between years, total decreased 10.8% 6.4% women. arm 12.6% 4.1% women, leg 10.1% 7.1% same period. In contrast, increase increased 42.9% 65.3% multiple regression analysis that negatively associated with obesity sexes. Conclusions In adults, sex-specific are more prominent than leg. Furthermore, increases adipose tissue might lead mass. Geriatr Gerontol Int 2014; 14 (Suppl. 1): 8–14.
