摘要: Introduction Colon cancer is one of the most frequent types in Denmark and western world. Recent studies indicate that there are differences between right- left-sided colon with regard to epidemiology, clinical manifestation, pathology prognosis. The present systematic literature review focuses on this subject. Method PubMed, Ovid Database Cochrane Library Systematic Reviews were searched for relevant October 2011. Only 17 fulfilled inclusion criteria, which 1) published after 1998, 2) written Danish or English, 3) peer-reviewed publication. Results We found patients right-sided older, more often females, possibly had co-morbidities, advanced tumour stages, increased sizes, poorly differentiated tumours, different molecular biological patterns a poorer prognosis than cancer. Multivariate analyses showed age, gender, mode presentation (emergency/elective), co-morbidity stage significant influence survival, but it was uncertain whether location itself such an effect, though this. Conclusion findings potentially have consequences planning screening treatment cancer, further research area needed.
