摘要: Freshwater resources might become the most limited resource in future due to rising demands, climate change, and degradation of aquatic ecosystems. While urgency this challenge is uncontested, water governance regimes still struggle employ suitable responses. They lack of: taking a comprehensive perspective on systems; focusing social actors, their actions, needs, intentions, norms as drivers engaging discourse tangible goals provide direction for efforts; promoting sustainability that equally recognizes depletion, justice, livelihood issues long-term. We present an approach intends overcome these limitations by putting focus what people do with water, why, along impacts doings. First, we outline integrated regimes, then, holistic set principles which evaluate sustainable governance. Solution-oriented research applying integrates natural sciences engineering perspectives systems science studies governance, while also specifying normative sustainability. The develop herein can be used reform innovate existing well stimulate transformative research.
