摘要: Abstract We describe the development and tests of prototype for a new telescope Medium Energy Gamma-ray Astronomy (MEGA) in energy band 0.4–50 MeV. As successor to COMPTEL EGRET (at low energies), MEGA aims improve sensitivity astronomical sources by at least an order magnitude. It could thus fill severe gap between scheduled or operating hard-X-ray high-energy gamma-ray missions open way future Advanced Compton Telescope. records images γ-rays completely tracking Pair creation events stack double-sided Si-strip track detectors surrounded pixelated CsI calorimeter. A scaled down has been built we technical details its design properties. Results from calibrations using radioactive measurements with accelerator generated, fully polarized, γ-ray beam are presented outlook plans is given.
