摘要: Abstract We have conducted a comprehensive comparative study of Ru(bipy)32+, Ru(bipy)2(phen)2+, Ru(bipy)(phen)22+, and Ru(phen)32+ as chemiluminescence electrochemiluminescence (ECL) reagents, to address several previous conflicting observations gain greater insight into their potential for chemical analysis. Clear trends were observed in many spectroscopic electrochemical properties, but the relative or ECL intensity with range analytes/co-reactants is complicated by contribution numerous (sometimes opposing) factors. Significantly, reversibility cyclic voltammetric responses complexes decreased number phenanthroline ligands was increased, due lower stability ruthenium(III) form aqueous solvent. This trend also evident over longer timescale when spectrophotometrically monitored after oxidation ruthenium(II) complexes. In general, Ru(bipy)33+ resulted blank signals, although this effect less pronounced ECL, where reagent oxidised presence co-reactants. Nevertheless, shows need compare signal-to-blank ratios detection limits, rather than more common comparisons overall signal different ruthenium Furthermore, our results support that, compared provides intensities oxalate, which some circumstances translates superior they do not subsequent generalised notion that sensitive Ru(bipy)32+ all analytes.
