摘要: Abstract The subject of study was the effectiveness UOZ-1 device – which emits natural warning calls animals in protecting living near railway tracks. We performed investigations central Poland between 2008 and 2012 at two sites along E 20 line where devices had been installed. used digital cameras to register animal activity 24 h a day, resulting 2262 mammal observations (involving 2956 individuals). In 76% observations, no rail transport observed. When train did approach acoustic signals were emitted, most wild mammals escaped (93–85% cases, depending on species). Regarding numerous species, roe deer, tested by comparing animals’ reactions when approached with switched or off. With sound more often (84% vs. 68%), their reaction an oncoming 20 s faster. found proof that habituated because proportion deer showed similar first last year study. There also difference time (on average 35 s). results this research indicate is effective reducing risk train–animal collision, prompting leave track faster greater frequency, than only train.
