摘要: Abstract Purpose: Treatment of patients with occult carcinoma the cervix discovered after simple hysterectomy is controversial. The purpose this review to examine our results postoperative radiotherapy and compare them similar reports treatment radical parametrectomy. Methods Materials: Between November 1979 April:, 18 were treated at University Virginia for invasive hysterectomy. Simple was performed in all a variety indications. After surgery gross residual remained four patients; microscopic disease present surgical margins two patients. remaining had no evidence disease. All or without brachytherapy. endpoints study local control, survival, treatment-related toxicity. Actuarial rates calculated using Life Table method. Results: Median follow-up 42 months (range 2–202 months). Both 5 10-year actuarial control 88%. Five overall survival both 93%. Two distant cancer recurrences. There recurrences among six external beam alone. are alive disease, including who surgery, one patient positive margin lymph node (the only undergo sampling). severe acute morbidity late morbidity. Conclusions: Invasive found may be safely effectively radiotherapy. Patients known following do poorly either reoperation, but alone less morbid. Also, minimal radiation pelvis appears as effective possibly morbid than reoperation.
