摘要: PURPOSE: This study was designed to obtain an updated population-based perspective on anal canal cancer incidence rates, demographics, and outcomes using a nationwide database. Eight-five percent of all carcinomas the anus are cancers, previous studies suggest that rates may be rising. Although most successful treatment for has been chemoradiation, little information at population-level exists regarding treatment, survival. METHODS: All patients diagnosed with from 1973 1998 in Surveillance Epidemiology End Results registry were analyzed. Data characteristics, survival assessed. Univariate multivariate analyses performed. RESULTS: A total 4,841 studied (mean age 61 years; 62 female). Female significantly older than male (65 vs. 58 P < 0.0001). There yearly increase cancers (from 1973–1998). Disease prevalence by stage localized (53 percent), regional (38 distant (9 percent). Racial/stage differences seen, because black had less disease white (46 53 percent; 0.01). Overall five-year entire cohort percent, cancer-specific 84 percent. Survival improved per decade (based year diagnosis). Significant race noted, but when receipt considered. CONCLUSION: reviews single institutional series, this performed data. The is increasing, overall improving. Important disparities care identified, which need addressed.
