Frequent visitors at the psychiatric emergency room – A literature review

摘要: Frequent visitors at the psychiatric emergency room (PER) constitute a small subgroup of patients, yet they are responsible for disproportionate number visits and thus claim considerable resources. Their needs often left unmet their repetitive reflect dissatisfaction as well that PERs' staff. Motivated by these dilemmas, this study systematically reviews literature about frequent PER seeks to answer two questions: What characterizes in literature? Based on 29 studies, paper offers answers questions based strength weakness opportunities threats (SWOT) analysis. The results review subsequent analysis revealed multiplicity complexity visitors' characteristics how appear converge. Commonalities were more difficult identify characteristics. In some cases, happened because poorly described or context specific. As result, it was not easy compare studies PER. SWOT findings analysis, proposes new venues research suggests field mental health might develop taking into account its threats.
