Positive or negative? Public perceptions of nuclear energy in South Korea: Evidence from Big Data

摘要: Abstract After several significant nuclear accidents, public attitudes toward energy technologies and facilities are considered to be one of the essential factors in national electricity policy-making process nations that employ as their key resource. However, it is difficult explore capture such an attitude, because majority prior studies analyzed with a limited number respondents fragmentary opinion polls. In order supplement this point, study suggests big data analyzing method K-LIWC (Korean-Linguistic Inquiry Word Count), sentiment query analysis methods, investigates attitudes, positive negative emotional statements about collected sets well-known social media network services Korea over time. Results show events accidents related have consistent or temporary effects on attitude ratios statements, depending kind accidents. The presented methodology use relation industry suggested can helpful addressing exploring attitudes. Based results, implications, limitations, future research areas presented.
