摘要: Sleep-disordered breathing is a frequent condition across the age spectrum in clinical setting, and characterized by recurring episodes of hypoxia during sleep, as well disruption sleep integrity. It has become clear that this highly prevalent leads to substantial morbidities primarily affecting central nervous cardiovascular systems also associated with marked alterations respiratory patterning. Substantial advances have occurred last decade on our understanding pathophysiological role played intermittent these altered phenotypes. In chapter, current conceptual frameworks mechanisms underlying consequences episodic hypoxemia will be reviewed, particular attention cognitive deficits neural control breathing. When appropriate, differences response patterns dictated developmental stages at which occurs addressed.
