摘要: Abstract A 42-year-old woman died from massive barium sulfate (BaSO 4 ) lung embolism after a balloon catheter intended for elective colonography was inserted into her vagina. The vaginal insertion of the caused bilateral laceration wall which followed by penetration BaSO afferent veins and pulmonary embolism. Fluoroscopy performed during fatal events post-mortem X-rays revealed radio-opaque substance in vagina uterus, pelvic vessels vena cava, right heart chambers, lungs, kidneys. In addition to finely granular intravascular particles were demonstrated histologically several organs including brain glomerular capillaries. Scanning (SEM) transmission (TEM) electron microscopy together with X-ray microanalysis, inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES) allowed definite identification lungs confirmed its capacity penetrate filter embolise via systemic circulation various organs.
