摘要: Background: Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness caused by the spirochete Borrelia burgdorferi. Although antibiotic therapy usually effective early in disease, relapse may occur when administration of antibiotics discontinued. Studies have suggested that resistance and recurrence Lyme might be due to formation different morphological forms B. burgdorferi, namely round bodies (cysts) biofilm-like colonies. Better understanding effect on all burgdorferi therefore crucial provide for disease.
