摘要: Summary Background Respiratory viral infections are usually preceding or coinciding with acute otitis media (AOM) in children. It is not known if a given infection would facilitate invasion of bacterial pathogens into the middle ear species-specific way. We reanalysed microbiological results two prospective Finnish Otitis Media (FinOM) studies for this purpose. Methods The children had been followed from 2 months to years age specific study clinics and all referred AOM events were analysed. Combined virus detection tests fluid nasopharyngeal aspirate those culture cross-tabulated 529 FinOM Cohort Study 364 Vaccine Trial. Results In both main Streptococcus pneumoniae , Haemophilus influenzae Moraxella catarrhalis while viruses detected rhinoviruses respiratory syncytial (plus enteroviruses Trial). No distinct associations observed between findings. Conclusion did find support theory that caused by species favour growth certain pathogen MEF more than another.
