摘要: Monitoring is an essential component of adaptive management, and a carefully designed program needed to ensure high-quality data inferences over realistic time scales. Co-operation among agencies incorporating citizen science may help enhance learning while reducing the financial costs monitoring. We seek realise this potential conserving Australian malleefowl (Leipoa ocellata). An established network scientists provide low-cost, sustainable annual monitoring data, yet most effective actions for remain highly uncertain. The continent-wide species' distribution presents significant challenges, including multiple environmental strata sample numerous management jurisdictions. outline framework that aims unify conservation priorities nationally, target efforts. elicited model structure drivers of, threats to, persistence in workshop with land managers advocates. parameterised 80 uncertain interactions within using novel ensemble modelling techniques identified effectiveness predator control as critical uncertainty affecting persistence. developed classical, spatially replicated experimental design test whether breed more frequently where predators are suppressed. proposed will rely on contributions several dozen 200–300 annually. have broad stakeholder base, proactive communication strategy, agile approach accessing resources foster resilience longevity program. If successfully adapts response outcomes, it become one largest programs planet.
